“At the Tip of the Prairie Peninsula”

John Mack’s 2002 Ohio State University
Master’s Thesis focusing on Daughmer Savannah,
Claridon Prairie and the OSU-Marion Campus Prairie

In 2002 John Mack completed and successfully defended his Ohio State University Master’s Thesis focusing on the vegetation of several prairies–two remnants and one created prairie–in north-central Ohio. The work includes descriptions of the geological history, a recounting of human alterations of the landscape, and complete species lists for Daughmer Savannah, Claridon Prairie, and the OSU-Marion Campus Prairie. It is presented here with John’s permission and encouragement in hopes that the information will benefit individuals and entities studying and managing these areas and similar ones in the vicinity.
